Last Saturday, my family and I came back from a fabulous, beautiful, and relaxing vacation. Right now, I'm having a little case of vacation withdrawal syndrome. (haha- thats what I call not wanting to be home)

We rented bikes, and went on their lovely bike trails to the beach. There is Spanish moss everywhere! It is beautiful. There are also canals everywhere and we saw alligators. Lots of them.

This particular place is known for their golf courses. None of my family golfs, but they are just amazing! And so well manicured and taken care of.

Our second night we were there, my mom made a fabulous salmon dish! It was so colorful L just had to take a picture of it! She had just gotten a new camera, and it takes great pictures!

Unfortunately, there were lots of jelly fish in the water, and L got stung. So, we didn't get in the water a whole lot.

We were very close to a harbor that had lots of cute shops and restaurants. We would go out on the pier at night and it was just awesome.

It was also neat to see all the yachts. Some of those things are huge!

We also went to the pool that was right by us, and went for "midnight swims." More like 9:00 swims! haha!

Anyway, it was absolutely wonderful.

School starts in 6 days, and I would rather be at the beach. :( haha but hopefully it will be good!

Summer is absolutely fantastic. The beautiful colors, the dresses, the sunshine... The long days of tanning and drinking lemonade. The beach, the mountains.... everything being green.

Hello Blog world! My blogging has been rather sporadic...

This week I am an only child. So weird... My 2 sisters are on a missions trip (out of the country). I miss them a ton! I've just been hanging out with some friends and taking care of Caroline's lovely bunny Ginger. She is absolutely precious. We haven't been doing a whole lot, since my mom had a sinus, double ear infection and larangitis all at one time! Fortunately, she's doing better now.

It is so, so hot today! 96 degrees! I haven't really been outside... Mom and I have been inside cooking and baking! :)
I made chocolate chip banana nut bread, and made some homemade croutans for a salad tonight. I'm going to make some lemon icebox pie! Very appropriate for this weather! :)

I haven't been running lately, which I know I need to! I just can't run when it's hot. My dad is a runner, and he says you'll get used to it, but even just being outside wears me out! Does anyone else have this problem? I really need to excercize!

We were planning on going to a water park this week, but since Mom was sick, that didn't work out. :( Hopefully next week!

Well... that was a whole lot of randomness! :) Hope everyone's having a fabulous week!

A couple of weeks ago, we went to a Buckhead Betties warehouse sale!! Buckehead betties is a company that sells adorable tote bags, everything monogrammed, and more! I was in heaven there. I ended up buying a green and white beach bag, a black and white striped tote bag with a bright pink "A" on it, some adorable laundry bags for if I go out of town, and a towel wrap that is being monogrammed right now with an pink A. AND it was very cheap! nothing was more than $20!!! If stuff like that would've cost more, I wouldn't have gotten it. But it was so awesome! I wish i could find pictures. :)

Since I have glasses, I can't wear sunglasses. Unless I get prescription ones, which aren't always cute, (and expensive!) I either have to wear none, or wear a hat. I'm thinking about buying one of these-

I think they are very cute! I'm thinking about ordering a light pink with my brown initials or a pink with white. What do you think?

Anyways, Yesterday my sisters, mom and I, went to a place called JAARS. It's a Bible translation place, and their goal is to reach every tribe and translate the Bible into every language! Pretty cool, huh!? We got a tour of the place, and they flew an airplane that they use as a demonstration. We stayed pretty much all day, and a former missionary from Germany came with us! She goes to our Church.

I am out of school! Since I'm home schooled, I get sorta an advantage! :)I just have math and science to do, but I'll go through May with that. Also, we've been doing some end-of-year testing. FUN FUN... (Not so much!)

Last night, I watched the Blind Side. What a great movie! It was soo sweet! It's really remarkable that it is a true story! I thought Sandra Bullock did an amazing job! Well, all the actors and actresses did great!

Yesterday was so fun! After doing some chores, my older sister Lauren took us shopping! We went all around. We all had giftcards to Stein Mart, so I got some burt's bee's chapstick and some fun lotion products. I also got a really cute dress from a consignment shop. I was thinking it would be $16 because that's what it said on the tag but when they rung it up, it was $8! :) Don't you love when something costs less than you think it does? :P

Then, we went to a smoothie shop and got delicious smoothies!! Later, we went to some of our friend's house and hung out with our youth group leader and watched the Harrison Ford Sabrina and ate sour patch kids and fritos! :)

Spring!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter! Spring is my favorite time of the year. And Easter also happens to be my favorite holiday! Our oriental cherry blossom tree has bloomed in the last week. The grass has gotten to be such a beautiful green. Our yard is filled with pink and green- my favorite colors! Such a change from the cold, gray winter we had this year. Spring is a wonderful time of year... I love all the flowers, and the weather is wonderful! Except the pollen has been terrible where I live! The last couple of days the pollen has been the most it has ever been in a long time! Lately, my allergies have been really bad. Pollen is everywhere! Hopefully, most of it will wash away in the rain. Despite the pollen, I'm very excited about spring clothes shopping! I can't wait to find some cute dresses! Last week, (Easter sunday), I wore a dress. I hadn't worn a dress in a very long time. I love dresses! They are so cute and fun! What gets you excited about spring?

Omigoodness- I went to see this movie today and it was soo good! Oh, and sad! I thought Miley Cyrus did a pretty good job, though she's still not the greatest actress in the world.

And I LOVED Will! He was soo sweet! o- and cute! ;)

I thought all the characters did a good job. I haven't read the book, but my sister has. For those of you who have seen the book, AND the movie, what did you think about the movie? Did you like it better/worse, and did they do a good job following the book?

Gosh, I haven't posted in forever! Well, I can't believe it's nearly April. That is crazy! And Spring is FINALLY here! :) Although today it was cold, dark and dreary. :/ Today was a sad day for our Country. anyways... I just need to remember that God is in control of everything, and that it's all happening for a reason. here's a couple of things that have happened lately since I don't know what else to post about!

-Lauren had a birthday and got her drivers license! It's not only fun for her, but it's fun for me 'cause she can take me places! :)

-I finished reading To Kill a Mockingbird yesterday. It is such a good book! This was actually my second time reading. I love it!

- I got a new violin! I am now a full size! =D

- I have jogged 2 miles WIHOUT stopping! yes, it is a big deal for me!:)

- FLOWERS have bloomed! YAY!:)

- My friend threw me a surpirse birthday party the weekend after my last post!:)

- I have worn shorts twice! I love the warm weather! :)

- I have said so many times during the month of February that I'm moving to Florida! Ha! :) It has been a cold winter!

- I had East Coast wings for the first time... yummy!

well anyways thats just a couple of things... I need to get my dear sleep now! haha!:) Good night!

Valentine's, Birthday, Olympics..

Happy Valentine's day! I hope that it was wonderful!

I have been blogging for 1 year! It was one year on Friday, my Birthday.

Maybe when I get to 100 posts (I'm almost there) I'll do a give-a-way!!

I had a great Birthday! The day before, my mom took me out to eat at a really yummy Japanese restaraunt

and then we went to the mall and shopped. I looked at the Lilly Pulitzer sections (and love ALL of it let me tell you) but many of you know that it is very expensive! Especially for a 14 year old

who will probably grow out of very soon. I was about to get the Peacock pants, but I wasn't

sure that I would be confident wearing them. It is an especially loud print... they were on sale though!

I ended up going to lands end and getting these 2 shirts, in pink and white.

I LOVE ruffles! And this is just too cute! Plus, it was a lot

more of a reasonable price! YAY!!

Lauren got me a Lilly Pulitzer journal, which I had been wanting (Thanks sis)

Caroline got me a monogrammed lunch box that will come in the mail soon. Thanks!!:0

My grandma got me some dove dark chocolates (the best!) and some earrings that her mother had when she was little.

She is really good at giving centimental gifts!

As you probably know, (you better know!) the Olympics started also on my B-day. (they did it just for me!!) ha~

I am not that much into regular sports, but there is just something about the Olympics that I absolutely love.

I love cheering for the U.S.A!!

My Favorite event has been the skiing and the ice-skating.

These people are AMAZING! I just don't understand how they can do all that they do!

AHH! snow again. It snowed last week. About 8 inches. And now it snowed again about 4... I am darn tired of snow!! Plus, I have a lot of plans this weekend. I hope they won't get canceled. I am going to a concert with friends, and spending the night at my youth group leaders house w/ 2 other 8th grade girls. I'm really excited! It better NOT be canceleled. Also, my class (which meets once a week) got canceled.And i like going, so that's really annoying.

You can pray for a family from our church today. (j did a post about it here). they lost their 7 year old daughter, Karis, a year ago exactly... I CANNOT imagine what they are going through. Pray for peace for her little sister (age 7 now) and parents.Also, you can pray for my mom, because her great-uncle died yesterday. There are only 2 of her aunts and uncles left out of 9.

Anyways, sorry for the depressing post. I hope that you are having a good Friday!

jogging & party 4 dad

I just got back from jogging.

One of my goals for this year is to be able run a 5k.

I've been working on it, and have jogged 3 times this week for a total of 3 miles.

Yes, you're probably thinking thats not very good, but it is for me! I am excited to be doing it.

Maybe it's my new pink and black adidas coat that i got for christmas that's inspiring me. :P

Well, tonight we are having a big party for my dad. He is a nuclear engineer, and just passed a HUGE 2 1/2 hour oral test last week, where up to 4 managers asked him questions that he's learned from over 7 MONTHS! (Can you belive it???)

We are so proud of him!

New year's post

I somehow did not post much about New Year's. Well, it was fabulous! I started off by going to a pro-basketball game with my best friend (by the way, it was so worth the money!) They won, and we had a blast. :P Then, Miriam spent the night. We had such an awesome time! Also, our youth group leader came too. We played scattergories, and wii games. And ate fudge and veggies! haha. Did I ever mention that we got a wii fit for Christmas? well we did and it's super fun!:0 We jumped into the new year, and stayed up till 4 taking pictures and playing wii. It was probably the funnest New Year we've ever had! SOO... that being said it is 2010. wow! I bet I will have hard time writing 2010...

7. I bite my nails. My cuticles are terrible. That's something I want to stop.
8. I love heabands and earrings. They can make any outfit cuter
9. I am starting to like ugg boots, after I had a strong hate for them last year. (HA!)
10. Too much rainy weather makes me depressed. But I do LOVE rainboots! I got a pair of bright green ones for Christmas.
11. I love Bath&Body works after-Christmas sale!
12. Bella is such a sweet, sad movie!
13. I love both snow-skiing, and water-skiing!

Should I do it, or not? plus food (which is always pretty tempting!) so it would be about $25-30... errr.. decisions, decision. Yes, I do have Christmas money... but i have to save & tithe, so I won't have all that much spending money. gosh decisions are soo hard!

~It's begining to look a lot like Christmas~

I am very excited. So excited I have a hard time concentrating on my algebra. HA! We have been frantically going shopping for gifts, and have gotten all our Christmas decorations out. I am looking forward to giving this year! well... and a littlle bit of receiving too. :D I am also excited about my first violin concert tonight. I have always played bymyself (solo) so it'll be fun playing with others.

I think it's hard sometimes when we are frantically running around doing errands and getting ready for Christmas, that we forget to stop and think what the REAL meaning of Christmas is. It's not all about the presents (which i sometimes think it is), and it's not all about the food. It's about Christ being born, to save us from our sins! Redemption. I pray that I will not make Christmas being about something other. \

We took our much-needed vacation. To Florida. I love Florida. It's great. Last Friday, we drove for 15 hours (tiresome defintely!) and got there on Saturday. (we stopped and spent the night at a hotel). On Saturday, we went and picked...

Florida oranges! they are THE best! The groves were soo pretty. There was a deal-thing where you could get a bag of any citrus in the grove. we filled our bags with keylimes, oranges, tangerines, and kumquats. I had never heard of them either. they are sorta sour, but good.
Anyways... The rest of the trip we swam, kayaked, looked for shells, shopped a little bit, saw dolphins (so awesome!), and rented bicycles which we rode all around the island. I ended up spending all my money on this trip. i know, i probably shouldn't have... but i got a really cute pink and green t-shirt, 1 pair of gold star fish earring, another pair of silver shells, and... some shells a t a shell place, postcards, and something else that i can't remember. It was the first year we didn't get together with family for thanksgiving. but we still had a good time.

Anyways.. I'm feeling a little depressed. I always get depressed after coming home from vacations. The leaves are all gone, and it's cold. but i am soo thankful we got to go have a wonderful time in florida! Another thing- it is hiliarous to see "winter wonderland" blow up snowmans in 80 degree weather. HA!

Face Painting & FREE stationary

Yesterday, we went with our friend Amanda to the school she is a art teacher at. It was the school's fall festival, and we did face painting. It was a dress-up thing and I was minnie mouse- Caroline a tiger, and Lauren a egyptian princess. Lauren's friend Zoe and 2 other girls went too.

It was really fun! I had never face painted before, but I did pretty good. A couple of times, I messed up a little. But anyway, the kids were adorable!! they were soo sweet!

I had a lot of fun~! Before I went to that, I baby-sat with Caroline for some friends from our church, for some of my favorite kids! They have 2 2 year old adorable adopted little girls (well they are still in the adoption process with marie) - Annie, the oldest is very pale, with blonde curly hair and blue eyes, and her little sister Marie is african-american with beautiful brown eyes. They are both soo cute together! We are praying it goes well with the adoption process. That family is so sweet!

Anyways, Caroline got her stationary from traylorspaper today.

SO today was the Ardmore 5k. Our church started doing it, and then it's just sorta been a tradition. Over 700 people did the 5k, and about 100 did the fun run (1 mile). Our church raised over $15,000 for a food bank! I did the fun run... It was fun! My shoes came untied (though i double-knotted them) and I had to stop or else I would make my self look stupid and trip! (ha!) But i tried to jog or run most of the time... My dad did the fun run AND the 5k! GO DAD! 4.1 miles... It was FREEZING cold. ahhh!!! I wore my fleece columbia jacket and soffe shorts. It was soooooo coollllllddd! ahhh i'm like cold right now thinking about it. anyway it was really fun! Also, me and my sisters volunteered to cheer ppl on at the intersections. That was fun! I saw a ton of ppl i know, including both of my teachers. (haha)

Yesterday, we went shopping. I finally found a winter coat (yea!) Its brown fleece columbia jacket with light aqua writing, and a light-aqua and brown rain coat-ish thing that you can wear it with or w/o the fleece. It is soo warm! I am happy!:)

I also got some sperries. (well their fakes but they look JUST like them except for the logo). they are very comfortable! I went to some shoe stores but I didn't see many boots i liked... anyways, Thanks for the advice in my previous post!:)

fall clothes HELP!

I am seriously in need of some long-sleeved shirts, and some shoes I can wear in the fall/winter. I like boots, but I am very picky about them. I strongly dislike uggs. I wish I liked them, b/c they look really warm and comfy, but I think they look like walking-on-the-moon boots or something of the sort. Okay, I know a lot of ppl like them- but not me! I like loafers... I'm not a big fan of wallubies though. And flats, I like, but they are way too cold! suggestions would be very much appreciated.

And shirts- hate neons. Hate lumber jack plaids. (sorry guys!)
But DO like- ruffle blouses, polo shirts, cable knit sweaters... j.crew-y stuff except I dont' really want to buy stuff from there because it's so $$$ and I will probably grow out of it really soon. (i'm 13 okay!) SOO it would be (very much) appreciated if you gave me some ideas of where to get reasonably priced cute clothes!

So the fair is this week. We went on Friday, and i won my first ribbon! (haha!) I made white chocolate scones (which got 3d place in the ADULT section- long story), painted a plate which got 2nd place, and dream bars that didn't win anything. (we had to turn them in before they cooled, and they were still gooey!)

on friday, we celebrated caroline's birthday. we made a really nice lunch of shrimp, bread, salad, and coconut cake. it was yummy!:D it was a little disapointing, because one of my grandma's couldn't come because she was sick, and one showed up and told us she'd eat a piece a cake and stay for 2o minutes (which i was a little ticked off about)... anyways, i hope caroline had a good birthday! me and lauren got her a really adorable anchor necklace from the jewel box.

yesterday, my dad randomly (and awesomely!) told us we were getting a trampoline. so we went to sports authority and now we have been jumping away!:) it's really good excercise too!:)

the sermon at church was so good. we are covering genesis. here's a song i like!

Saturday was the most dreariest, awful-est, weather ever. It was soo depressing. But i decided i would practice for the fair and make pumpkin white chocolate scones. They turned out well, but i think next time i'll add more white chocolate chips.:)

Anyway, dad came home on Friday night, so that was good to have him back. Yesterday (Sunday) we went to our good friend's ordination for becoming an assistant pastor and then a party thing at our church, so that was fun. Thankfully, today is a lot prettier weather. But it's sorta cold. :/

Rain, rain... today is the first day it hasn't been raining in a couple of days. Yesterday, I wore this outfit. I LOVE rainboots. Actually, these are Caroline's rainboots... But she let me borrow them!:)

they are soo fun and cute! Target has a pretty good sale on them this week. Buy one get one half off. They are 24.99, but the second pair would be... about $12.50. So they aren't that cheap, but not THAt expensive.

I love these anchor boots. So cute and nautical! and houndstooth goes well with about anything! what about just a basic solid color?

Wednesday nights= yay! :) Choir, dinner and youth group. I am happy!!:D

I have seen 2 movies this week. One called while you were sleepig. It's stars Sandra Bullock (she is one of my favorite actresses). It was made in the 90's. (which I don't like the 90's a bit, but I'll stop before I start ranting and raving). It was cute, but very unlikely in real life. here's a trailer-

Also, I finished tuck everlasting. Man it's sad.. but pretty good. The book is a lot better, which is not surprising. This preview is a little cheezy, but the movie was good.

It's about a family who drinks out of a spring and they live forever. Winnie Foster, daughter of the family who owns the woods of Treegap, runs away into the forest and meets a young boy name Jesse tuck. She sees him drinking out of a spring. She tries to get a drink, but they have to kidnap Winnie so she won't know the secret of the spring. They end up falling in love, and Winnie has the choice whether she should drink out of the spring and live forever, or be a regular person, who lives their life, not just a person who will never grow old or die. It is actually a very deep story. (read the book first! ) I saw this on youtube. (they have the full thing downloaded). I could start a whole discussion on this but I don't want to ruin the whole story for you!

I usually watch movies at night during weekdays, so you might have some more random movie reviews like this.:)

uhhmmm... tomorrow I have violin lessons. I have a new teacher. She let me borrow a violin shoulder pad and I dropped it without realizing. (I don't know how I didn't notice- don't ask) And my dog CHEWED it up. (I'm being serious when I say my dog ate it) And mine is broken. What a great first impression. Of course, we bought 2 new ones. And I am so made at myself! so there goes all my babysitting money.

the beach... was luverly! The weather was wonderful. Mid 70's to low 80's. Perfect. And the sky was blue... not a cloud in the sky. It was GREAT! and the waves were big! And the water wasn't too c0ld! I am sorta funny because I'd rather swim in the ocean then in a pool. I love the waves. I love the saltwater. But i don't love that I can't see the bottom and see if a shark is about to attack me. that is the part I do not like!

It basically looked like that. isn't it beautiful??!! I was born at the beach. I love it.

We even walked on the beach at night! it was fun... there was a live band on the pier and me and my sisters had fun dancing gooberly. There weren't very good shells though.:(

**Edit post** I am sorry if i was unclear on what i was talking about earlier. I wrote this post on 9/11.

Bad occasion today. 8 years ago, I remember that everything was going wrong, and it was just a horribe day. I remember my parents being upset, and I wasn't quite sure what had happened. Many people lost their lives trying to save people during this horribe event. I was at the world trade center 4 months before the crash. It was scary. I was scared. It was about midnight, and I was only about 5 years old. Thank God I wasn't there 4 months later! What a sad occasion.. God bless America!

Nonetheless, I had a fabulous day! First day of class, and now heading off to the beach for the weekend! Totally spontaneous, and totally awesome! And tomorrow is my dad's birthday! Happy Birthday Dad! I love you sooo much! I wish you could be home with us!

I had a good, long weekend! My dad came home, so that great! On Saturday, i went to my first football game at wake forest. it was FUN! I didn't watch the actually game very much... instead I just stuffed my face with cotton candy! oooo yaaaa! On Friday, I went to the apple store. It is soo cool! They have computers everywhere, and iPods galore. You can mess with everything. It is ALWAYS crowded in there. We finally got the word document thingy downloaded on our new iMac. It is soo fun to write a paper now~! hehe. I made chocolate chip cookies. We are going to our church picnic tonight. Today is SUCh a depressing day. It seems like it has been on forever. Anyways, hope ur having a good week!

Apple pie & autumn

FALL!!! Not officially, but it is in the 60's today. I've been thinking about fall... And I got an urge to make a pie. My parents had picked up some fresh apples, so I made apple pie. It was splendid! And very easy too... (I didn't make my own crust, but I'll do that sometime!)

Easy Apple Pie

1 (9 in) pie crust, buttered
5-6 apples, but I did 7 because they were small
1 1/2 sticks butter (3/4 cup)
1 c. flour
1/2 cup chopped nuts. I used walnuts
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tbsp. sugar
1 cup sugar
1 egg

Peal and cut apples. Place apples in pie crust and sprinkle with cinnamon and 1 tbsp sugar. In a bowl, mix 1 cup sugar, flour & butter. Blend in un-beatend egg, pinch of salt, and nuts. Mix well and pour over apples. If desired, put a top crust on the pie. Bake at 350 degress for 45 minutes.

And, Bon Appetite! My FIRST pie, and it was very good if I do say so myself!:)

my summer is almost gone..

I'll be starting school in about 9 days. Scary, eh? well at the begining of the summer, I did a post about what I wanted to do this summer. ( to see complete post, click HERE) Since it's back-to-school time, I wanted to go back to the list and see how much of it I did.

Get a tan- Well i got as tan as abby can get. (which isn't that tan but I DID get a little color)
Be with my dad- yep. Very thankful we got to spend most of the summer w/ him
Go swimming. Our apartment we'll be staying in has a swimming pool. we haven't been a member of a pool in forever, so it'll be fun! - yes, we went swimming a lot this summer.
Make some strawberry lemonade- nope.:(
Pick some more strawberries - we picked one batch.
possibly go water skiing. Never been before, but I'd love to if we get the chance! - YES! I can't believe I got to do that!
Go shopping- hit the outlet stores! Including banana republic, jcrew, brook's brothers, and gap
Go to the cheesecake factory. My math teacher has always told me it was so good and that I should go. So, Ms. Goodson, I'll try to go to the cheesecake factory for you!:0) - nope. Not yet. When I do go, I will try to get tha banana cream cheese cake Amanda was telling me about!:)
Eat an orange cream sicle- nope.:(
Eat some shrimp - yup!
buy some ice cream from the ice cream man- no but I want to on my last week of freedom.
bicycle- not too much of that...
visit mueseums- we visited all the museums we could possibly see. Not exactly, but I am a little tired of museums if that means anything.

wear flipflops- O yea. Been living in flip flops!

Plus, I saw my first pro baseball game, and got a new computer! Well, I had a great summer! Hopefully, you did too! This last week, I'm going back-to-school shopping, and enjoying freedom before going back to the dreaded "s" word. :)

WATER-SKIING! Omiword.it.was.a.blast! I LOVE IT! Lauren's friend Zoe came up to see us for a week, and then we went up to Lake Erie with Zoe, and some people that we used to go to church with, and went water-skiing!

These people are amazing at water-skiing, and they did an awesome job of teaching us. It was a cold, dreary, cloudy day, and the water was cold, but we went out there and did it! *Wahoo* It was SOO worth it. I had been wanting to do this for the whole summer... What a blessing!

Last night, we came HOME! HOME... Sweet home. It is soo nice to see friends, and you don't even know how nice it is to have my own bed and have more than 1 bathroom. (all 6 of us had to share a bathroom in our apart.)

Unfortunately, I didn't sleep well because I had that chocolate covered espresso bean... And I had one the night before....(probably not just one!) Now I know my lesson. No more chocolate covered espresso beans at 4:00!

Anyways, I am happy I am home. Lauren is going to Costa-Rica this Saturday!*woot woot*

art & Father's day

I'm still here! My grandmother came up on Friday, so we have been showing her some sights of the city! Yesterday, we went to a awesome, huge, ginormous art museum. It was so cool! We spent about 3-4 hours looking at the art, and we didn't even see all of it! We took some funny pictures by the modern art (cameras were allowed) and enjoyed everything. I especially liked the works of Claude Monet. The modern art was wack-o! There was one especially weird piece of modern art-- all it was was a white canvas with white strokes and a steel picture frame. I didn't really think of it as art... It even had information up about it. At first, I guessed they had just not put the piece up yet, but I guess not. Strange... I was amazed at some of the ancient pieces that they had! Some dated back to B.C! They did not even have glass or anything over them.I was tempted to touch it just for the record so that I could say I touched a piece of history, but... I used self control and restrained.:)

SUNDAY-- was Father's day! My dad never asks for anything but candy & juice, so we got him a basket filled with what else but candy, juice and fruit (watermelon, strawberries, blueberries) and I got him some pineapple cocanut Haagen Daz. He is always easy to shop for! Anything that's sweet and edible will do for him.:) Happy (late) Father's day, dad, I love you!

Anyways, we are leaving. I have so much more to post about, but this will have to do for now!

Headache.. and PRAISE

On Monday, I was playing tennis with my mom, when I started to get blurry vision. I went inside, and soon after my fingers began numb and my head started hurting really bad. I took some ibuprofen, and about 3-4 hours later, it felt mostly better. The next day I felt all the way better, and we went to walk around the city. We went in Sak's 5th avenue, Brooke's brothers, and Macy's. It was fun, but the next morning, I woke up with a headache. I finally went to the doctor and they told us to go to the children's hospital emergency room to get a CT scan. So, we waited for forever and a day, but I got the scan. It turned out good! Praise God! But it turns out I was having "complicated migraine's," which means that it's a migraine, except it has to do with numbness and blurry vision. I still have to get a MRI just to make sure, but I am soo relieveved. Thank God! The doc told us to carry motrin or ibroprofun, and drink plenty of water wherever we go. That's what we've been doing. I am very thankful.

touring the city

Saturday, we had a touring-the-city day. It was a blast! We went on this tour called "just ducky." It's a sort of bus that goes on land, and in the water! It's called a duck. HOW COOL IS THAT?! It was SO much fun! It's neat to see the view of the city from being on the water...

And-- the sun came out! Hopefully, some more good days at the pool. Also, we have attempted to play tennis. I LIKE IT! I don't like sports much, but I like this. Who would have guessed?

Hopefully, we will go check out the city some more today... Well, I'm off! Hope you have a dazzling- day! :0

I am posting at the library. My, o my, this place is big! It is soo different from back home. I wish I could tell you where it is, but for privacy reasons, I won't. I'll just say that it is up north. I'm sure that that helps a lot. (not!:)

Our apartment is fairly nice. But It is as small as I'll get out, and all 3 of us have to share a room. Other than that, it's nice because it has a pool, and tennis courts.

One day, the sun came out for a little while and we got to go swimming. But other than that, it has been cloudy and overcast for 3-4 days. We haven't had a great pool day yet.

Yesterday, my dad got us a membership to a place called "the club 4 life." It's a huge work-out facility with everything to do! So that's a good thing to do on a cloudy, depressing day. And,I heard there is a cheesecake factory here, so I'm hoping to go try it out. :)

Well I need to go. I'll update when I can.

Well, we are leaving tomorrow to go up north for about a month and a half. It's not farewell forever, but we probably won't have Internet access for a while, so don't cry. I'll be back in July. Helllooo summer!

Yesterday, I got out of school! I kinda have mixed feelings about it, but am excited. The year went by pretty fast. I'm defintely going to miss my teachers, and the 8th graders, but not my grade! Mannn I'm happy to get away from them. Ha! It was sweet though, I had to leave a little early and when I left, everyone came and gave me a hug. AAWWWW!~ My cousin was in my class this year, so that was cool. Maybe I'll be back next year, who knows! everything is up in the air. That's what I dont' like about this moving thing. We don't know what the heck we'll do for school! Anyways, I don't want to get into that subject again. It' been an ok year. Yesterday, We had a class party, so we just ate sundaes and signed yearbooks. That was nice...

I have been watching most all of Britain's got talent, and this has been one of my favorite acts. She is sooo adorable and I wish she could've made it to the finals! How cute is this girl??!!! She has a very mature, clear voice. Go natalie!

Yesterday, I had field day at school, which is where the whole entire school (K-8th) goes out on the field, and divides up in teams. We do a ton of different games and relays, and make up cheers and all. It was fun!:) We also had a half day, and so me, my mom, and sisters went to the farmer's market for some fresh veggies, and out for lunch.

Then we went shopping. We went to this cute little shop downtown called the Snob Shop. (Funny name, I know!) I couldn't find anything for a while, but I finally got sucess! I found a white sleeveless lily polo shirt, (for a lot cheaper than normal price!:) and some giraffe print shorts. I was very happy~! I haven't been able to find clothes in a while, (that I like) so I was blessed!

We have done a lot today! My dad came home last night! It was so good to see him! Today, we went to pick strawberries, since the weather was so nice. We picked about 4 gallons. Yum! I love strawberries, and they're healthy. And, I've heard they help whiten teeth! (I don't know if that's true or not-- anybody know?)

Than, we went home, changed clothes, and went to meet my grandmother for lunch. We went out sorta in the middle of nowhere, in Amish county.There is this store run by some Amish people called "Shiloh General store and deli". It's a very neat store, and we got some delicious sandwhiches. They make THE best bread! It's a very cool atmosphere. It's not every day you see a horse and buggy drive by! Outside of the store, they had a box with free kittens inside. They were sooo cute! I wanted one (kinda) but not right now, since we are trying to move.

We also went to OldNavy in the mall. They were having their $1 for flipflops sale. Unfortunately, it was really picked over and there wasn't at all much left. O well!

Grandma's party!:)

So we had my grandmother's 80th birthday party yesterday. It was a lot of fun! We had about 22 people over (including us). It was a little cold and rainy, but we have a rather large screened in porch, which sufficed perfectely! We were planning on having a croquet game going on, but that didn't work out. Everyone wore colorful dresses, and looked cute!:)

My grandmother looked like a queen. She was wearing her straw hat with a black ribbon and her beautiful jewelry. On top of the hat she wore a tiara. How adorable!???

The food was delicous! Especially the caramel pound cake... My sister's good friend's mom is a cake decorater, and she made THE best cake I think I have ever eaten. It was delicious! There was also punch and strawberries. There was a lot more food, but I listed most of it in my last post.

Of course, my lovely embarassing aunt's decided they wanted to make me play my violin. How nice! ? O well.. It was fine but I wasn't too thrilled because I was just enjoying drinking me punch and caramel cake!:)

Ohh here's a funny story---after a while, I got a little bit tired of all the people in one room. so I decided I needed some quietness. (I think that's a word.??) Maybe it's silence. O anyways.. So I went downstairs where our dog lucy was was put (so she wouldn't bother the old ladies.) It was really nice and quiet there, so I started to talk to the dog. Yes, I do talk to dogs. Am I insane? No. I know they don't understand what I'm saying, but sometimes its nice to talk to the dog. Because they have no answer.:) SO i was just doing my own thing when I heard "ABBBYY?" (me) "what?" and I looked up stairs. There was no one there. So I went all the way down the steps, and saw Lauren curled up on a chair.

(me) "Did you hear me talking to the dog?"
(Lauren) "yea but it's okay. I came down here to talk to her too!

HA! I thought that was funny. And i'm glad I'm not the only one who talks to the dog.

It was a lot of fun. I'm sure my grandmother and her friends will be talking about this for years:!)

Yardsale!! Lauren decided she wanted to get rid of a lot of her old clothes and junk she never used. Than the rest of the family caught on, and we made a pile by the door of what we wanted to get rid of. On Friday, we decided we'd have a yardsale. My friend miriam came over and she sold some stuff too.:) We have some funny stories about this yardsale.. Yesterday, (Saturday) it was a little bit rainy, but that didn't stop the customers! We sold A LOT of stuff! Mainly, clothes, jewelry scarves, headbands, and stuffed animals. (didn't sale much of the latter!:) I am thankful that people showed up even on a cloudy Saturday morning, because we made a lot more money than we expected!

After the sale, we made a run to goodwill for the leftover's.

Hooray for getting rid of junk! I feel like I had a lot of clothes I didn't wear that were just sitting sadly in the closet. Know at least someone's enjoying them (hopefully!:)

Today we are having my Grandmother's 80th Birthday party! It's going to be a garden theme, because she has always loved gardening. We are having a caramel pound cake, cucumber sandwhiches, crab dip, punch, spanakopita. I'm sure it will be fun!

We are going to the evening service at church tonight because we have to get ready.

I just realized that I never posted about my weekend. LAST weekend. Wow I'm behind..

The shakesphere play- I know I mentioned me playing my violin in it, but I don't never if i told much about it. well it was so much fun! Anually, my school has a huge play, which we work on throughout the year. This year, our play was "As you like it."

I played the part of a lady-in-waiting. I had a fairly small speaking part. At least I had something, right? And at least I got to put on a costume, and makeup. I had a blast though. I guess the excitement of it all was mainly why.

After the play, we went to some friend's house, watched "What about Bob" (weirdly funny movie-- soo totally 80's though!) And then went to pick up my dad at the air port. It was about 11:30 when we got there. It was soo good to see him!

The next day we went to the celtic festival. Very intersting. There was-- let's just say a very WIDE variety of different types of people. It was a little bit disturbing. A lot of goths with spiked chocker necklaces, pink hair, and kilts. And many hippies. All in kilts. *cringe* the music and icecream was good though!:)

That night we went out to eat for greek food. It was delicious! aww man it was good. Greek is like my new favorite cuisine now!

Sunday was Mother's Day! we made my mom lunch, got her roses and cards, and went for a Sunday afternoon jog. I was training for running the mile. Right after that, my dad had to leave. :( I was really sad...

Anyways, we had a good weekend. Forgive me for not posting about it.

Yesterday, we had to run the mile in P.E. Omigoodness... it makes me more tired than I already am just thinking about it. After school, I hung out with Dee Dee, went to Borders and looked at funny books. Then came back for a church picnic. Wednesday's are officially over.:( mannn what am I going to do on Wednesday's any more?

Today nothing eventful has happend. I am sooo tired. I think I might go take a nap... Yea that would be nice. Sorry for an unusually long post!

Well yesterday, me and Lauren went to the nail salon. I got a manicure in bright pink, and Lauren got a pedi.

I've been looking at my nails a lot. They're so shiny!:) I could never be a nail person. When I paint mine, I always end up picking them off because they're so globby. The guy who did my nails didn't say more than about 10 words the whole time, and the rest of the time he was talking to himself in chinese. I was a little bit scared, because he could've been talking about my awful cuticals. AHH! they were scary before he messed with them. I do not do much with my nails. I felt very pampered.

Go see a funny video at Lauren's blog about manicures. Have you ever seen bon qui qui? It's the same girl who does that who has a show.

Last night, we had some friends over and did some excercise dvds. They were a blast, and a workout! Belly dancing was... errr... funny! We also watched some funny rhett and link videos. Go see a funny one on Caroline's blog...

Well today, I went to both services at church. I did because my mom and I got up early to go to the 8:30 service (actually we didn't get up very early... we got up about 30 minutes before we had to go. Long story, but NOT a smart idea! ) My sisters came later, so I sat through with them again, because my mom had to go to a funeral for one of her relatives. I didn't mind sitting through again, but the second service I was soo tired.

Caroline wasn't feeling well, and so she got up in the middle of church and left for a long time. I decided I'd go check on her, because it had been about 15 minutes. Her stomach was hurting, and I wasn't sure what to do. So i went back in, passed notes with lauren for about 5 minutes, persuading her to go check on Caroline. It probably looked pretty funny, because we all got up about twice during the sermon, and it took forever. Long story, but thats pretty much how it happened. I'm glad caroline's doing better though!

Bleh. I am exhausted. And it's a cloudy day out. Not looking forward to going back to school, where I have to do presidential fitness training. Whew. And I'm having a bad hair day.

Anyways, here's a great song! I got the pleasure of singing it twice today at church..

There is only about a month or less of school left of the WHOLE year.

I do not know what to think of this school year coming to an end so soon.

I have not loved school, nor do I have the most school friends in the world, but yet I think I will miss it somehow during the summer. I guess I am more attached to the teachers than I am to the students. And it's sad that I most likely won't be there next year, but what if our house doesn't sell? I am so accustomed to the thought of moving, though I don't want to, that I'm just used to the dang idea so it would be weird if I went next year, after everyone has heard that our house is up for sale.

Where will we be next year? Will I go to the same school? I am so confused.

I have been thinking about it a lot lately. This year has been so full of changes that I'm having a hard time adapting to it all. This is my first year going to a real school ( I was homeschooled before ), and I am not sure what I want to do next year, or, it is not my choice at all!

Me and my sisters have all probably had similar posts these days. We are all thinking about this.
I know it is all in God's plan, and He knows exactly where we will be, and how it's all going to work out; because HE planned it! But yet i'm still having a hard time...

Will you please say a prayer for me today? Thanks so much! I really appreciate it.

WOW 8 days without blogging! My computer "crashed" for 2 days, and then I just decided to take a little break.
we took care of Annie-Catherine, a little girl that goes to our church for the weekend. She is adorable! We had so much fun playing with her. She's 2 years old about, and is starting to talk more. We had a fun time! And-- my dad came home!! It was soo nice having him back! He had to go back yesterday after church though. :( We will probably spend the summer with him. which i have mixed feelings about, but am happy we are going to be with him!
So I started this random facts thing a week ago. I've been working on it ever since. Please, take some time to read it some of it. I have worked so hard:)

Random facts! Tagged by Miriam
1. I enjoy watching people argue over something that's stupid. It's very amusing. Today in Language arts, some one asked "why isn't the map of the U.S.A turned upside down? I always thought that would be better..." Go figure. Something lame to argue about, but I still had a good time listening to it. :o) PLUS it took up class time! even better...

2. I am not a picky eater when it comes to variety, but am when it comes to how it's cooked, and how it's seasoned. I Love gourmet! i do not care for hot dogs and easy mac. So i guess i am in a way..

3. I can not use a compass. I do not know why, but I am directionally challenged.

4. I love riding my bike at the beach, but not at the mountains! It takes too much work to go up a hill.:)

5. have been watching big sis drive, and decide that I'm excited about driving! (a little scared-- but more excited than when I first saw her drive. I was scared to death!:)

6. I prefer cooking over baking. I have had some clumsy experiences with baking. (Ex. cracking the egg in the trash can and keeping the shell, putting salt instead of sugar... you get the idea!) When I cook (which, occasionally happens) I like to make chicken, HOMEMADE macaroni & cheese ( my grandma's "secret" recipe) and... broccoli. It's easy enough, right? Also, you can mess around with the recipe in cooking, which you can't do as well with baking.

7. I like shopping, but don't love the mall. the mall is fun sometimes, but it's just so big and expensive! I like to shop at Target, Gap, consignment and the Tanger Outlet stores. (sales!!!)

8. I am just learning to read notes in violin. I have played for 5 years by ear, so it's kinda hard to get into reading notes.

9. I am not sporty. A bit. You should see my in P.E *runs from the ball*

10. I Am a big fan of finding nemo. It's so cute though...

11. I love gelato! It is SO amazing! there's this little gelato place downtown called Cafe Gelato. I've been there a couple of times and love it. The flavors are so much flavorful that regular ice cream. AND-- they have less fat than ice cream! I thought it would have more but it actually has less! yay!

12. I do not like clowns... or mimes for that matter. They are secretly out to kill.
(I've read too many mysteries involving clowns...:D)

13. I don't like horses. They're stinky, sweaty and make a big mess. But They're sometimes fun to ride. I DO like cows. They're cute, and munch clover peacefully on the lush hills. (wowa-- listen to those adjectives!) a cow/horse comparison.

14. Obama scares the heck out of me. He is killing babies, which is the most horrid thing.. and he spent 8 billion + dollars his first month of duty. ahhhhhhh.. I am scared to say the least, but we can't do anything about it but pray..

15. I have been eyeing Lilly Pullitzer dresses... they are soo adorable! If i had enough moo-la that's one of the things I would buy. A nice, pink & green original. By Lilly, of course!

16. My music style is varied. I enjoy contemporary christian, alternative, some indie rock to frank sinatra. Anybody have a title i can put on that??

17. In college, I would like to do something with fashion, but would be afraid I'd become to materialistic. I have a problem with that.

18. When I paint my fingernails, they come out globby and terrible. I don't know how they do it in salons-- plus, I always pick the nail polish off. I cannot go a day without picking off my nail polish. Another bad habit of mine...

19. I had my tonsils out last summer. Actually, it was pretty nice. 2 weeks of pudding, ice cream, and movies. My throat hurt pretty bad though. I was soo happy to be able to eat REAL food
after that.

20. When I was little, I had a lemonade stand with my sisters. We sold cheerios by the handful and lemonade. ha~ we sure didn't have any customers! My sisters and our ideas...(that's 2 links)

21. I love to go yard-saling! I have found so much awesome stuff from yardsales.

22. Going to church is the hilight of my week. I look forward to it so much!

23. I went to N.Y.C 3 months before the crash. I also went to the top of the twin towers at midnight. Also, my dad (who is not afraid of heights) was very uneasy about going up. Ironic, eh? what a blessing that we weren't there 3 months later...

24. I was homeschooled all the way up except till this year. I have finally gotten used to getting up early.

25. I love spinach! It is good in pasta, as a dip, in salad, pizza..

26. Currently, I've been wearing a lot of pink, navy, green and black. Those are like my favorite colors!

85. We just sung "Lean on me" in choir yesterday at church. our choir is pretty good, but It was kind of distracting because every starting clapping and smiling cheesily. I felt like laughing because when you're up there, you can see the whole congregation! haha

So, on Friday we had our movie night. Instead of watching 27 dresses, we watchecd Princess Diaries... wow. Totally a chickflik. Sassy girl was cute-- it was kind of a random movie, but it had a good ending! Good endings make all the difference, right? And then my bff Miriam came over and spent the night.

Last night, we went to my grandmother's house for dinner. My great Aunt Shirley was there was there too from out of town.

we ate a delicious dinner, and then my grandmother got out some apple sauce. I was the first to try it--- it was strangely bubbly, and tasted like it had carbonated water in it or something. I was just like "yumm this is good applesauce-- it's tangy." My grandmother tried some, and we came to the conclusion that it was firmented. LOVELY. And i thought it was some new delicious flavor! I'm glad we didn't get sick from it! It was a funny experiance.

Today, we haven't done very much. We went to church, and did nursery, and then went out to eat for Mexican. Just a relaxing Sunday, which is always nice!:o Nursery is always intersting. There's so many "no's" and "stop's" and "don'ts" you really get a taste of how sinful and selfish humanity really is. Even in the 3 year old nursery.

friday night= movie night!

SO-- who's ready for the weekend!!?? MEEEE!!! Tonight, me, my sisters and some great friends of ours are going over to hang out at their house, and watch 2 movies...

I've seen part of this before, and it was good. It had some weird dialogue, and some language, but now that we know where it is, we can fass-forward. The girl wore adorable outfits, had a cute haircut, and the guy was cute... :) overall, what i saw of it was cute.

I noticed that this is the same actress from Love comes softly. I have never seen this, but I'm hoping it will be good. Has anyone seen it? Is it good?

well i guess i'll figure out pretty soon.

field trip and a blog makeover!

I got back from a field trip today, at about 3:10. My class went to an enviromental center overnight. It was pretty fun-- we went out in the wetlands and collected "specimens." I was surprised at how many moving tiny organisms were in the water. It was very cool.

We did many other activities, such as team-building, studying the forest, games, etc. The camp was really nice for a camp-- the cabins were awesome! they were built above the ground, and had steps leading up to them. The food was pretty good-- for a camp. Except for the sticky buttery fake-tasting mash potatoes with mysterious looking gravy. Honestly, I'm not a big "cabin-girl" so it was nice to get back home and relax. It was rainy and muddy pretty much the whole time and we were outside the whole time.. yuck!

Today we did this awful orienteering course. For those of you who don't know what orinteering is, it's using a compass. I was awful at it. The counselors had to keep turning me around, and turning the compass so it would be lined up. I did not get anything out of it, and I was seriously embarassed. well, i guess i'd never used a compass before. And, the snobby girls in my class would run ahead and leave me with our teacher, to stare blankly and nod my head. That was the worst part of the camp. :/ It was a fun camp though. I really enjoyed the wetland ecology course. Learned a lot. I 'm ranting now, so MOVING on!

I am so very tired right now. I just got up from a 1 1/2 nap... Our cousin jessica (like thoughts inside a dream) and her mom came over for a night, so that was very fun! Also, natalie from the shrubbery came over, and taught us h0w to (sort of!:) contra dance. We drank espresso at 5 oclock, and didn't go to bed too too late, but I am still very tired. And it probably has to do with all the sugar I had... Anyways, I am had a blast, but am very out of it at this point.

Happy Palm sunday! It's a couple more days till Easter-- one of the best holidays! The service at church was great.

I am SOO THANKFUL for this holiday! without Jesus dying on the cross for our sins, and without a Savior, we would be nothing. Just sad people, on the verge of sadness for eternity. But-We know where we're going, and it's SOO comforting. I hope you will really think about this wonderful holiday- really embrace it, and think about it. It's not all about the easter bunny and cadbury eggs. (But I am a sucker for cadbury eggs!:)

Out of town! I took off of school to go on vacation.... how nice it is to leave school for a week, and have spring break the next! but i have like 5 quizes to make up when i get back... nice.

It was very relaxing. We went to my grandmother's second house for about 6 days, (2 1/2 hours away) in the middle of nowhere. Seriously! She has 150+ acres. Unfortunately, the weather was pretty bad. BUTTT-- we had plenty to do! The place we were had a ton of antique stores, and in one little town they had 12! So part of the trip, we went antique shopping. I found some ADORABLE vintage 1920-1930's Valentines. Caroline and Lauren found a ton of awesome stuff! I didn't bring my money, so I usually don't like borrowing. they find all the stuff! Gosh darn it!:) But anyways, we went to a drugstore downtown and got orangeades. It's a very small, but cool town!

After a couple of days of canoeing, fishing & antique shopping, we went down to Nags Head, in the outer banks. It was very cold and rainy, so we decided to hit the tanger outlets. You've heard me talk about them before (ski trip). We only went to a couple of places-- Ralph Lauren, Gap, Eddie Bauer... the usual. I only got something in Ralph Lauren. I got a big tote in navy. It's like Carolines.. i don't have a picture of it. It was on sale!!! YESS i am such a sucker for sales. $25... I love it! I've never had such a big tote bag as this before. It's not filled, but I'm proud of myself for fitting as much as i did!:)

When we got back to our motel, we watched Rachel ray and ate shrimp, asparagus and rice for dinner... yummy! We also watched Jon & Kate plus 8. I had heard so much about it, and i watched it. It's not my favorite, but it was OK. The kids were ADORABLE! i don't know how she does it w/ 6 kids the same age and a set of twins though. wow.. poor mom and poor babysitter!

We also watched a old movie called "the bad man" on turner classic movies. It was a western shoot-em-up movie starring Ronald Reagan. I had never seen a movie starring Reagan. Its so funny to think that a old movie star became president! It was a good movie though. The dialogue was hilarious.

We don't have cable, so it's fun to watch it when we go on vacation. Sort of a treat!:) But i think if we did have it, we couldn't get away from it!

I love watching the cooking shows. I usually watch Rachel Ray, because she's the one who's on the most. She talks way too much! She's a good cook though. he he

The next day we walked on the beach. It was COLD! the water was so rough! there was like no room to walk on the beach because it came all the way up! Once or twice it got so rough it came up right where we were and came up to our waists! that made it even colder. it was nice!! (half sarcastically!:) It was a nice experience...?!

But, over all, it was a very nice trip!!It'll be hard to get back into the "groove" though. hehe! have a nice week...

I love this picture!! This past week has been a very big transition time for our family. If you haven't heard, we are about to put our house up for the market by the end of the week. I have been pretty shocked at how fast this has come, but I am very thankful that my dad has a job. He will leave in April to train in Pittsburgh, for 3-6 months, which will be even harder without him. But, We just have to remember Philippians 4:13. "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

Please pray for our family, as we are going through this big time of adjustment. I know this is not a huge deal, but it is still very hard on us. Thank you!

On a brighter note, we had a pretty good, very relaxing weekend, so that was nice. I got together with a couple of my friends, went to church and heard a great sermon, and then went to my grandmothers house for lunch. Nothing beats a grandma's cookin', right? It was very delicious. I always love going to her house! Her house is very cool! My grandfather was a botanist, and a big-time shell collector, so throughout her house she has many inspiring things. I love seashells also! When my grandfather was alive, when we had our 8th birthday, he would give us a collection of shells. There were 13 grandchildren, so it was always a big deal! When our extended family would go to the beach together, he would take us out for hours, looking at shells. Maybe this is why I love seashells and the ocean so much! I love the beautiful colors God put on every single shell, and how they're so different than each other. These are just some pictures of my favorite shells:

It's already Monday. Man. The weekend went by too fast. Obviously, I've been pretty busy. Last week was very long. I haven't posted in a while. So therefore, (congratulate me!) I am finally posting.

On Friday night, me and my sister went to babysit a homegroup. It went pretty well, but the children were hyper-er than i expected. (is that a word?)

On Saturday morning, we went to get our picture taken for our new church directory. The photo turned out pretty well, for a not-so-photogenic person like me. Me, Lauren and Caroline matched with our polo dresses. I was so exctited to finally wear spring clothes. OOOHH and the weather. It's gorgeous right now, and has been all weekend. LOVIN the 80 degree weather. After the picture "session", we went to subway and ate healthy.:)

This rest of the day, we cleaned and went to a neighbor's house and went on their amazing zip line across their pond. It was so awesome. You can get harnesed in if you want across the pond, but I didn't. I wasn't very smart and dropped IN the pond. I about died. It was soo cold! I was expecting nice warm water like the weather but no. I dropped in about half-way, so I had to swim across the rest while i was freezing. Not to mention that i was thinking about nasty big fish and snakes. .. but i made it, and did it again (but i didn't drop in that time.) It was a nice experiance...:) They also have another zip line, just across the yard. It's really high up, so you have to get harnessed in. It goes about 50 miles per hour they said. I really loved it! I felt like I was flying... Anyways, that was a blast.

My best friend spent the night, and the next day we went up to the mountains. We went up and down 600 steps to get to a waterfall. We were tired. but it was a very cool waterfall. It was very steep, and was like a waterfall that went over a steep mountain. We went rock and hopping, and then went home, and then i went to my communicant's class. (I'm becoming a member of the church- so that's what it is)

That was just a little update on my weekend.

SnOw DaY

YES!! It snowed last night... About 3-4 inches. And it's beautiful! I haven't been out very much, but I got some videos, and I'm out of school. It's been a 5 day weekend! Yahoo! I was going to have my friend over, but it didn't work out so that kinda stinks. :( I think the snow is better for making snow forts and snowballs more than sledding. hehe- I've already tried! Anyways, I took a couple of videos and pictures. Note: I have a cold, so I sound pretty nasally.:D Enjoy!

Please pray for some people from our church. Their 7 yr old daughter died 2 weeks ago, totally unexpectedly. I'm sure these last weeks have been a painful blur for the family. I'm sure my sisters have already mentioned it, but i just want to remind you that this family still really needs a lot of prayer.

ski trip update + shopping spree

What a great trip! We woke up at around 5:25 AM on Friday morning, and left at 6. We got there about 8:30. The ski lodge was CROWDED with people. I definitely think the most hectic part of going skiing is getting your skis, boots, and all that stuff together and actually ON. But, after the "hard" part, we got to finally go outside and ski. It was a beautiful clear day- not a cloud in the sky. But at first, it was very, very cold. The wind was blowing, and the snow machine was still blowing snow, but it warmed up a bit as the day went on. We started off doing some easy trails, and then went on to the intermediate. It was a blast!!! I think the funnest one was an intermediate trail called "Big Red." It was near the top of the mountain, but it wasn't as scary as it looked. I almost freaked out going up the ski lift with my dad. (BTW, my sisters were inside drinking hot coco and warming up. humph! :)

The path was very wide-- not narrow a bit, so it gave me a little confidence. At the beginning, there was a pretty steep descent. That was the hardest part, but the rest was fine pretty much. It was awesome, being on the top of a mountain, gliding down. I felt pretty stupid though- i didn't fall at all on the trail, but at the very end at the bottom, i fell. ha ha- silly me. that always happens!:0) But I'm very glad i did it.

I would never do a black diamond though-- Ono. No. Not for me. Last year, I missed the stop on the ski lift, so i went all the way up to the very TIP top. I freaked out. Literally. They were all black diamonds, except for one double intermediate. I am not quite a double intermediate, so i was very... let's just say unsure. Fortunately, some random lady came up and helped me down the mountain. The trail was very steep and narrow. My sweet dad had climbed all the way up a black diamond to help me, so I met him halfway down. I felt so bad though, because he had to WALK all the way up a advanced trail just to meet me. how sweet! if he hadn't i would've probably flown down the mountain. Did i mention I didn't know how to stop very well? that's another story. But anyway, that proves that i am NOT into doing black diamonds, if i freaked out on a double intermediate.

The rest of the trip was great- after skiing till 4:30, we checked into a lodge at about 5:00. It's not the nicest place ever, but it was a cute mountain-y lodge, and it was good.

We went out to eat pizza, and then went right to bed. We were very tired.

This morning, we go up and swam in the heated indoor pool, sat in the sauna, and then showered and checked out. Then we hit the stores-- we went on a huge shopping trip. we went to Tanger outlets-- a fairly large shopping center with all these stores i ♥, that are a lot better prices. We went to banana republic, coach, gap, and polo Ralph Lauren. It wasn't till we went to polo Ralph Lauren that i got some great deals. My sister Lauren found me this adorable pink pleated polo dress that was normally between $39-49 dollars. Here's a picture.

I got this dress for $9.43 WAHOO!! (Except mine is in a brighter pink) THANKS LAUREN!!! i really love it... I also found just a teal shirt from there for $10, with a yellow logo. I was very pleased. I was surprised on how much it was marked down. I love polo ralph lauren. It's so cute, and it has so many different colors in everything. It's not just the boring pastels and primary colors. It's awesome bright colors that pop!

Yay! I'm going skiing tomorrow. I am very excited. We're going to Sugar Mountain, in Boone. This will be my 4th time! Skiing is awesome... I've been to Appalachian, but sugar mountain has a lot better courses. I have been bustling around trying to find some warm clothes. let's see--- right now, i am wearing 4 shirts, a hoodie, a snow bib, 3 pairs of pants, a coat, a hat, and 3 pairs of socks. I feel like a marshmallow. The other 3 times we've been skiing, I've worn all these layers, and it ended up being 50 degrees. Instead of putting on more layers, I had to shed them, and I got extremely sunburned. Haha... But it's supposed to be really cold up there, so I'll try to be overly prepared.

Wednesday's and what not

Today was a good day. It seemed to last forever, though. In science, we had a lab. It was very interesting, actually. We had a sample of coffee, and we were separating the caffeine from the coffee with hexane. (a chemical solvent- that's okay, i didn't know what it was either.) ha ha- we all had the funny lab coats and the geeky goggles on. It was really funny seeing my show-offy class mates in lab coats and goggles. I should have taken a picture, although camera's aren't allowed and I don't have a handy camera. Darn it! But, Mrs. Crater (our homeroom teacher) saved the day and took a picture. wow. It was of my table. Every one was staring blankly at the camera in their big goggles, with their mouth wide open, and gloved hands up in the air. Just kidding, it wasn't that dramatic, but it was pretty funny. It always amuses me seeing people getting their pictures taken without them knowing it. Although, I am not the most photogenic person ever. I probably looked pretty stupid too, with my glasses underneath my goggles. Double trouble! "Don't mess with me, I'll shove some chemicals in your face." mad scientist. wow.. did i just go out on a bunny trail? :D excuse me, if i did.

Science is probably my favorite class. (Also my hardest class) We are doing physical science, structure of atoms and molecules, organic compounds and all that fun stuff. I like it. It's pretty cool. Lately, we have been working on our science fair projects. They're kinda boring, but interesting enough for school. But, science is hard. Hey, we got a science teacher fresh out of college. Like literally. So it's pretty tough sometimes. But he's really good. Well, anyways I've been on the topic of science for a long time, so I'll ramble about something different. :)

So, As I said before, Wednesday's are very long. Since I go to my church's school, I stay at church all day after school. I do a communicant's bible study with Dee Dee. Communicants is a bible study designed for middleschoolers becoming a member of the church, that meets every Sunday night. It's interesting, and it's not just a fill in the blank bible study. You have to think about it. I've really enjoyed it.

After i do communicants with Dee Dee, i either wander around for the next hour or two, or help in the kitchen preparing for Wednesday night dinner. Today, I helped in the kitchen. Our cook is SO good. We always have something homemade, gourmet and delicious. Tonight we had chicken, rice, salad and ice cream with her awesome homemade fudge sauce. I chopped up the pepper for the salad.:) After dinner, I got to our youth choir with my sisters. Our choir teacher is really amazing. He has so much musical talent. He is awesome on the piano. We are singing "Our God is an Awesome God." We are singing at church in 2 weeks. It's always fun performing.:)

Then after that, we go to youth group, and after that we go home and be tired. It has been a long day. But hooray! school is out tomorrow and on Friday too. I don't know why, but don't question. Just enjoy, right?!! Have a good rest of your Wednesday!

Well, last night was very fun. All the middle school girls at church were invited to Dee Dee's house, our youth group leader. It was a blast!! It was make-your-own pizza night. So fun!:) everyone brought a pizza topping. I brought spinach and feta cheese. Yes, I am into that kind of stuff!!:-) (although i am defintely not a vegetarian!) The pizza was delicious! And, it was homemade with delicious crust! Any takers? Yummm... So, Dee Dee was expecting a small crowd, but about 20 middle school girls showed up. I think she was slightly surprised. :) We played lots of games, like wink and murder. (if you were wondering, no it was not gruesome!)

I love Dee Dee. She is soo much fun! After we hung out and ate as much as possible, my parents picked me up and took me to my friend Chases' house for a sleep-over. It was soo sweet, when I came in, Chase and my other friend Hannah, had put up a banner that said "happy birthday abby!" and made my own little table of presents and cards. I was soo surprised, and happy!! how sweet is that!?? soo thoughtful...

well today, after leaving Chase's house, Me, my sisters and mom, went over to a awesome lady from our church's house for a dress-up formal valentine's party! it was soo much fun! There were about 5 fun ladies there. Mrs. Schmidt ( the hostess) has a cute 2 year old daughter name Annie Catherine. We got to the party early, so we dressed little annie catherine up in a little fancy dress. I will probably post pictures of her tomorrow. She is absoulutely adorable!

The food was awesome! We had spinach quiche, a jello dish, chocolate dipped strawberries, grapes, orange juice, pumpkin muffins, and chocolate. It was really good, but i was already stuffed from eating 2 pancakes at Chase's. hehe... Dee Dee was also there. She taught us how to swing dance. I soo totally want to go. We had an absoulute blast. We got back about an hour ago, and to top off the wonderful valentine's day, my dad had left me some chocolate gingerbread truffles on the table, since I had been gone all day. how sweeettt!! Please tell me about your weekend. what did you do for Valentine's day??

Well hi!! I'm abby. This is my first post ever, so I'm pretty excited. First, I wanted to tell you a little bit about me. I attend at private christian school, and have 2 wonderful older sisters- Lauren and caroline, (check their blogs out on my profile!) and amazing parents!!I couldn't ask for a better family. ♥ love u, family!

Anyways, today was my birthday. It started out pretty boring, ya know, the normal school routine, but it got better. Yessss sirreee, it got better. :) wow. Well, at lunch, my best friend miriam over at http://mimielise.blogspot.com/ took me out to lunch at panera. We had an awesome time. I got some of their famous brocoli cheese soup. yummmm... and we had such a good time just talking, and enjoying a little break from school. I have known miriam for 11 years, so she made me a picture album of me and her that goes way back. It was very sweet, thanks again Miriam!! that was a blast. After school, I went home, had my violin lesson, (i'm learning notes-- i play by ear!) and then both my sweet grandmas and my elderly neighbor came over. It was really fun! we had a yummy dinner of chicken, scalloped potatoes, green beans, and foolish pie. (this meringue stuff that you put strawberries and whiped cream on- obviously, the name we made up b/c it's so delicious, you just keep on wanting more!! it's been in our family for years.) I got some adorable fish earrings and some nice soap and bracelets from my mom and dad, some cute stationary and dove chocolate from my grandma, some money and more chocolate from my other grandma, and some more money from my neighbor. (money is always handy!! hehe) Also, I got some earrings and a cute homemade wire earring rack made by caroline. I am blessed!! So, I had a good birthday. Well, I better go study for this math test tomorrow. wahooo onward to algebra!
